The Welcoming Foyer of the Grand Kemble Inn - Lenox, MA Built in 1881 by President Chester Arthur’s Secretary of State, Frederick T. Frelinghuysen, the Kemble Inn has since graced the town of Lenox, MA with its stately grandeur. A grand, welcoming foyer and staircase with its Palladian window are the testament to the elegance and opulence of a bygone era.
The mansion has been restored, renovated and converted into a luxurious bed and breakfast inn.

The Elegant Dining Room of the Kemble Inn At the turn of the 19th century Berkshires was a haven for the very wealthy Americans. Here, they built their splendid mansions, “The Berkshire Cottages”, in the richness of styles that reflected the taste and aspirations of their owners. An example of this wealth of expression is Kemble Inn and Ventfort Hall, just across the street. Both were designed by renowned architects of the time, Arthur Rotch and George Tilden, but in styles so beautifully different as if the buildings don’t belong to the same era.

In 2007, the restoration of the common rooms on the main floor was completed bringing the foyer, music, dining room and the library to their original look.

The Beautiful View from the back porchKemble Inn is uniquely located on the hill top of three elevated acres in the center of historic Lenox; it offers open, unobstructed views of the splendid Berkshire Mountains. Miles of adjacent, development restricted woods expand from the back porch and lawn, differentiating Kemble Inn from other inns located in and around the center of the town of Lenox. A stunning location for weddings, anniversaries, reunions, corporate meetings and retreats.

Kemble Inn is ideally located half way between Jiminy Peak Ski Resort and family oriented Butternut Ski Resort in great Barrington.

The Inn features eleven bedrooms and two king size suites: all with private baths, cable TV, Central A/C, telephones and access to wireless internet.. Many rooms have working marble fireplaces and jacuzzis.

Kemble Guests and What They Write About Us:
"My stay at the Kemble Inn can only be described as extraordinary. My sister and I spent several days at the Kemble Inn and vere very impressed. The owner, Bosa, was very pleasant and even upgraded us to a luxury room.......... If you are looking to get away from the formalities of the regular work this is a place to go............ If you truly want a tranquil stay filled with breathtaking views and exceptional service look no further than the Kemble Inn."
Amra, Macomb, MI
"Loved the Kemble and her Innkeeper. We had been coming to Stockbridge area for the past 20 years when we finally discovered Kemble Inn....... We were warmly welcomed and made to feel just like family, as if the Inn was our own home. Because of Bosa's generous hospitality we will be returning in 2007 for our fourth stay........ This innkeeper considers it a priveledge to share this wonderful home with her guests and she is carefully adding more and more authentic period furniture to the already lovely decor, wonderful art work, original paintings...... Bosa is refined, charmingly unassuming, but very knowledgable hostess, always ready to chat amicably about area attractions and local history, especially that of the Kemble Inn."
The Calapais, Yorktown, NY
"We were delighted with our stay at the Kemble Inn and hope to pay a return visit some day. You have a beautiful location, a beautiful piano, a beautiful building managed by a beautiful hostess. Thank you for your contribution to our pleasant stay."
John, Ottawa, Canada
"Our stay with you was one of the highest times in our trip. Mary and I were blessed to stay in a wonderful Kemble Inn. You are a wonderful person."
Cary and Mary, Balboa Island, CA
"The Inn is beautiful and elegant with gorgeous views of the Berkshire Mountains from the back porch where I spent hours reading. ...The hostess is very knowledgeable about area, especially cultural events. My room was one of the modest ones but lovely and spacious with a large bathroom. .. It was the most pleasurable week and I highly recommend it."
Jelena, New York, NY
"True, it's sumptuously elegant but the owner makes the mansion more. I had a few days for myself and I drove to explore Lenox and the lovely Kemble Inn at the suggestion of a friend. What a delight. The Kemble is gloriously restored mansion in a grand style....But all the European charm and elegance were made more enjoyable because of wonderful suggestions and conversation I had with the delightful and knowledgeable woman who owns the Kemble. Thank you, Bosa. I can't wait to come back when Tanglewood is on."
Michelle, New York, NY
"We booked The Charles Dickens - which was one of the largest rooms at the Kemble Inn that boosted a king size bed and Jacuzzi. We were very impressed by privacy and laid back yet professional feel that the Kemble Inn had to offer. The proprietor-owner was warm and gracious and the decor was excellent. The view of the Berkshire Mountains were breathtaking and we would highly recommend the Kemble Inn to other travelers looking for a quiet gateway."
N. B. White Plains, NY
“Loved the Kemble Inn. I have been staying at the Kemble Inn for ten days with my wife and we had a wonderful vacation. Beside the location and the views from the Inn, which are outstanding...the furniture was very nice, if one likes the touch of antique furniture. The room was very clean and well kept (daily cleaning, vacuuming, changing of the linen.) The bathroom was exceptionally clean. The continental breakfast was variate and served in nice rustic-style china and as the frosting on the cake, the hostess, Bosa was friendly, willing to talk about history and cultural events of the area. She is well educated lady with cultural interests.”
GeorgeG, Rye Brook, NY
“Great Stay at the Kemble Inn.” Upon our arrival we were greeted warmly and graciously. Throughout our stay attention was paid to make sure that it is more then satisfactory. Our room, “Fanny Kemble”, was magnificent...... The bath was almost as large and also nicely furnished. Both, the bedroom and bath each had had working fireplaces.....The views of the Berkshires from the dining room was very lovely. ... It was perfect for our getaway, and we’d return in a heartbeat.”
Luckeeny, West Simsbury
